One of the questions that has come up repeatedly over the past couple of weeks is “How can I help move this project forward?”
People are starting to recognize that if we want to make our proposed new hospitals system a reality, we have to stay focused, and united as a region. We cannot let fighting over the site of the new hospital derail this project, or we risk losing everything.
For the past two years we’ve been meeting regularly with different local community groups who invite us in to learn more about our project. Today we had the opportunity to meet with two more. This morning Lifetimes on Riverside invited us to speak to residents.

Great discussion with residents at Lifetimes on Riverside.

Eager resident asks, “What can we do to help make this a reality?”
And this afternoon we met with the Windsor Cancer Research Group.

Meeting with Windsor Cancer Research Group to discuss New Hospitals System for Windsor-Essex.
During both of these sessions, people wanted to know how to help. Here are a few suggestions:
- Be vocal. Speak up. Let decision makers know you support this project and you want to see it move forward. As a resident of Windsor-Essex, you deserve nothing less. Take the time to thank our local representatives on city and council who demonstrated strong leadership last year when they voted to support a levy. Don’t know who to speak to? Here are some suggestions.
Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health
Gary Switzer, CEO of Erie St. Clair LHIN
Lisa Gretzky, MPP, Windsor West
Percy Hatfield, MPP Windsor-Tecumseh
2) Invite us to speak with your community group. We love speaking about the proposed Windsor-Essex Hospitals System. We’ve had conversations with dozens of groups over the past couple of years. If you want your group to be next, click here and send us an invite.
3) Join us at one of our community events. The next one is coming up on January 26, with the CEO of Humber River Hospital.
4) Use social media to share your thoughts. Many of the individuals listed above are frequent users of Facebook and Twitter.
5) Write letters to the editor and send them to letters@windsorstar.com.
6) Share this blog post and talk to your friends. There is too much at stake here to do nothing.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We will continue to push forward, but we need your help to make it happen.
Thanks for your continued support.
Enough sour grapes over the site selection. The site is a great one, will be very visible with easy access and a location to be proud of. I have to say that the other site is hidden from the public view, in a busy traffic location, seems partly land locked ( which I think is why they want to unload this site to the Health Care system to use which no one will want with such a distant setback from Tecumseh Road). Build it and they will come. Can’t please everyone and we shouldn’t listen to all the bellyachers. Just do it!!!
“For the past two years we’ve been meeting regularly with different local community groups who invite us in to learn more about our project.”
Enough said!! For the past two years there have been meetings and the site has been chosen! Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been spent on site selection! The site has been selected. End of discussion! The opponents will go on forever and will never be happy. Build it! End it! They will come!!!
Thanks. Please make sure you share your opinion with the province and take the time to thank city and county representatives who demonstrated strong leadership last month in voting to support the levy and this project.
