EXPLORING THE FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE AT THE QUEENSWAY MEDICAL CENTRE
One of the goals of the new Single-Site Acute Care Hospital project is to make sure people in Windsor-Essex have access to offer the right care, at the right place, at the right time. This is much bigger than a new acute care hospital!
Trillium Health Partners in the GTA is a leader in this area. They offer a full range of acute care hospital services, and a variety of community-based, specialized programs.
Residents in the Toronto area can avoid long emergency waits thanks to the Queensway UCC.
The site also includes an Urgent Care Centre that looks and feels a lot like a hospital emergency department – without the long waits. The centre takes pressure off of the hospital’s existing emergency departments and enhances access to care for the community in a timely way.

The Queensway Health Centre is a former acute care hospital site that now focuses on outpatient care – including cancer treatments. Unless patients are in need of hospitalization, they don’t have to go to hospital to have chemotherapy. This is far more patient centred, more comfortable, less stressful and easier to access then having to attend an acute care hospital.
